Calculate Taxes and Deductions screen

Use the Calculate Taxes and Deductions screen to force ProContractor to calculate taxes and deductions for entries in a payroll check posting group. Under normal circumstances, ProContractor automatically calculates taxes and deductions when you save a manually entered employee time card or when you manually adjust a payroll transaction. However, there may be situations when you need to force ProContractor to calculate taxes and deductions.

You should force ProContractor to calculate taxes and deductions if:

  • You have used the Generate Automatic Time Cards screen to automatically generate employee time cards.

  • You have used the Import Transactions screen to import employee time cards.

  • You have changed a setting in a payroll maintenance function.

  • You have deselected either of the Calculate Taxes and Deductions on Save checkboxes on the Payroll Settings screen, and you have used the corresponding screen to enter time cards.

In order to calculate taxes and deductions for an employee's time card, you must have access to the pay system for the employee.

When you calculate taxes and deductions, ProContractor determines which overtime rules to apply based on the following order and applies the first set of rules it finds:

ProContractor calculates taxes and deductions based on the overtime rules, but does not change the hours entered on the time card.

Note: To open the Calculate Taxes and Deductions screen, click Employees > Payroll > Calculate Taxes and Deductions in the All Tasks pane.
