Work Locations Screen Field Reference

General tab

Field Description
Utilization Region Enter the code of the utilization region for the work location. Selecting a utilization region ensures that data for this work location is included when you generate a Utilization Report by Utilization Region.
Status Select the status of the work location.
  • Active - The work location is available for use and appears in lookup lists.
  • Inactive - The work location is not available for use and does not appear in lookup lists on other screens. However, it persists in previous selections.
Memo Enter any comments or notes about the work location.
Tax Control section - Set the payroll tax authority for state, local, and SUTA (State Unemployment Tax Authority) for each work location. Values set on the Withholding Tax Determination screen override values set here, if there is a conflict.
State Income Tax Enter the code of the state tax for the work location.
Province Income Tax Enter the code of the provincial tax for the work location.
Local Income Tax Enter the code of the local tax for the work location.
SUTA If you want to override the SUTA payroll tax authority set on the employee record, enter the code for the SUTA tax.
Exempt State Income Tax Overtime WeeklySelect to make the employee's overtime wages exempt from the state income tax calculation.
Payroll Insurance
Payroll Insurance State Enter the code of the payroll insurance state for the work location.
Allow Employee's Payroll Insurance State to Override the Work Location Select to have ProContractor calculate payroll insurance for the payroll insurance state set on the Employee screen instead of the payroll insurance state set on the work location.
Tip: Viewpoint recommends that you not select this checkbox.

If you select this checkbox, but don't select the payroll insurance state on the employee, ProContractor will calculate the payroll insurance for the work location payroll insurance state.

Payroll Insurance
Payroll Insurance Province Enter the code of the payroll insurance province for the work location.
Allow Employee's Payroll Insurance Province to Override the Work Location Select to have ProContractor calculate payroll insurance for the payroll insurance province set on the Employee screen instead of the payroll insurance province set on the work location.
Tip: Viewpoint recommends that you leave this checkbox deselected.
If you select this checkbox, but don't select the payroll insurance province on the employee, ProContractor will calculate the payroll insurance for the work location payroll insurance province.
Weighted Average
Overtime Rate CalculationIf you want weekly weighted overtime to calculate on wages earned at this work location, select this checkbox. The system selects the Weekly Rate Calculation field automatically.
Note: You must also select the Overtime Rate Calculation checkbox for each trade/union applicable to this work location. See Trade/Union screen.
Weekly Hours CalculationIf you want overtime to calculate using a daily weighted average instead of a weekly weighted average, also remove the check from this checkbox.
Company grid - Each row in the grid is a company that generates a payroll for the country.
CompanyThe code for the company.
Company NameThe name of the company.
Compensation PackageEnter the code of the Compensation Package for the company.
Compensation Package NameThe name of the compensation package.

Paid Time Off Tab

Use this tab to enter paid time off information for the employee. Each row in the grid is a paid type off type for the employee.

Field Description
Paid Time Off Enter the code for the paid time off type for the employee.
PTO Start DateEnter the date for when the employee is eligible to accrue the paid time off. The PTO start date must be on or after the employee's hire date. This date is used for determining paid time off rates if you selected Employee PTO Start Date for the Calculation Bracket Basis Year on the Paid Time Off Rates screen.
Probation Period MonthsDisplays the default number of months in the probation period. If needed, enter the number of months in the probation period for the paid time off type. The probation period begins on the start date for the paid time off type, which means that the employee will begin accruing the paid time off the number of months entered after the paid time off start date.
PTO Available For Use DateSelect the date when the employee is eligible to use accrued paid time off, allowing you to specify a waiting period where the employee accrues PTO, but cannot use it. This date must be greater than or equal to the PTO Start Date. This is different than the probation period, which allows you to specify a waiting period before the employee can accrue PTO.

When you enter a PTO time card for the employee, if the date of the PTO is before the PTO available for use date a warning appears. If needed, you can override the warning to process the paid time off for the time card line.

If the employee can accrue paid time off before being eligible to use it, the PTO available for use date should be different than the PTO start date.

Accrual Rate FromSelect where the employee's accrual rate is set.
  • Paid Time Off/Paid Time Off WL - Use the rate set in the Accrual Rate field when determining the paid time off amount.
  • Default Time Card/Default Time Card WL - Use the regular rate from the employee's default time card when determining the paid time off amount.
Accrual RateIf you selected to use the accrual rate from the default time card, displays the accrual rate. Otherwise, enter the accrual rate to use when determining the paid time off amount for the employee.
Burden PercentEnter the burden percent to apply to the accrual rate.
StatusSelect the status of the paid time off type for the employee.
  • Active - The type is available for use and appear sin lookup lists.
  • Inactive - The type is not available for use and does not appear in lookup lists on other screens. However, it persists in previous selections.
