Digitize Spot Elevations

  1. Open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen.
    Note: To open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen, click Estimating > Earthwork > Manage Earthwork Estimates in the All Tasks pane. Click Open Existing Job. Then select the job you want to open, and click OK.
  2. Select the Takeoff tab, if it is not already active.
  3. In the Active Layer field on the toolbar, click to select the layer for which you want to digitize a spot elevation.
  4. Click Spot on the speedbar.
  5. In the Elevation field on the toolbar, enter the elevation of the first elevation point you want to digitize.
  6. Press the tip of the stylus to the point that you want to digitize or click the point you want to digitize on the image.

    Notice that the elevation is the value you entered in the Elevation field.

    Note: You can prevent the New Point popup window from appearing with every new spot elevation by deselecting the Show this dialog for every new spot elevation checkbox.
  7. If you want to change the elevation, enter the elevation in the Elevation field, and click OK.

    A red X appears on the existing layer of the Takeoff tab to indicate the spot elevations. A blue X appears in the proposed layer of the Takeoff tab to indicate the spot elevations.

  8. Digitize the next spot elevation.
  9. Repeat steps 5 - 8 until you have digitized all of the spot elevations for the layer.
