Set baselines in the Summary tab

  1. Open a job in the Manage Estimates screen.
  2. Open the Summary tab.
  3. If you haven't set the levels to summarize, click Levels on the speedbar. If you have set the levels to summarize, go to step 6.
  4. In the Level 1 field in the Summary Criteria window, click to select the WBS code by which you want to summarize. Repeat for each level you want to summarize.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Columns on the speedbar to display the Columns toolbar under the speedbar.
  7. Click Show on the Columns toolbar.
  8. Select the Estimate, BaseLine, and Variance columns. If you are using divisors, you should also display the BaseLine Cost columns. See Work with Columns for additional information.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click Baseline on the speedbar.
  11. To confirm that you want to update the baselines, click OK. The baselines of the WBS codes that are currently displayed in the Summary tab are updated.
  12. Open the Estimate tab and make any changes you want to the estimate.
  13. Open the Summary tab.
  14. The new costs of the WBS codes are shown in the Estimate column. The Variance column displays the difference between the current estimate and the baseline you saved for each WBS code.
