Manage Annotations

Annotations are graphic representations of cost items in takeoff. You can cut, copy, adjust, and delete annotations once they have been digitized. But before you can do that, you must select the annotation you want to work with.

You can adjust your annotations, so making corrections and slight adjustments is easy and quick. Your adjustments will be more accurate at higher levels of magnification. See Zoom on Sheets for information on increasing magnification. You can also move entire annotations or groups of contiguous annotations.

Once an annotation has been taken off, you still have the option to insert the quantity into an existing item by creating an association. The estimate item can have an existing quantity during this procedure. Once an Estimate item has been associated with a Takeoff item, by either Digitize Library Items it or manually associating it, you can break the link between the two at any time. You can only unlink one item at a time.

If you need to make a visual change to every annotation of a given item you have digitized, you can do so without individually changing each annotation. For example:

Suppose you had digitized over 50 sections of interior walls and set the color to black. These interior walls may not stand out on the plans if they are also in black. You can change the color of every annotation for that particular item by adjusting the annotation once using the Use a Library or the Cost Items and applying to all existing annotations. Note, however, that you cannot change the unit types of a given item and have it carry over into existing annotations. You can only change the graphical attributes.

To open a job in the Manage Estimates screen, click Estimating > Estimating > Manage Estimates in the All Tasks pane. Then select the job you want to open, and click OK.
