Create a Custom Filter for the Data in a Column

  1. Click to select Custom to specify a custom filter.
  2. Click Add Condition to add a filter condition.
    In the Operator field, click to select the filter operator. Valid values are:
    • Equals
    • Not equals
    • Less than
    • Less than or equal to
    • Greater than
    • Greater than or equal to
    • Contains
    • Does not contain
    • Like (wildcards)
    • Not like (wildcards)
    • Match (regular expression)
    • Does not match (regular expression)
    • Starts with
    • Does not start with
    • Ends with
    • Does not end with
  3. In the Operand field, enter the value for which you want to filter or click to select the value from the drop-down.
  4. Repeat steps 2 - 4 until you have added all the conditions you want
  5. By default, all conditions use AND as the connecting operator. To change the connecting operator, click in the left-most column to select a condition and click Toggle.
    Tip: The color of the column to the left of the Operator column indicates the connecting operator for the conditions. The column is gray for AND and blue for OR. To change the connecting operator, click on the column.
  6. To group conditions together with a different connecting operator from the other conditions, do the following:
    1. To select the conditions to group, do one of the following:
      • To select a continuous group, hold Shift while clicking in the left-most column to select the first and last conditions in the group.
      • To select a continuous group, click in the left-most column to select the first condition in the group, hold the left mouse button and drag the mouse to the last condition in the group.
      • To select a non-continuous group, hold Ctrl while clicking in the left-most column for each condition you want to include in the group.
    2. To group the selected conditions, do one of the following:
      • Click 'And' Group to use AND as the connecting operator for the selected conditions.
      • Click 'Or' Group to use OR as the connecting operator for the selected conditions.
        Tip: A column is added to the left of the Operator column for each group and indicates the connecting operator for the group conditions. The column is gray for AND and blue for OR. To change the connecting operator, click on the column or click in the left-most column to select a condition and click Toggle. Clicking Toggle will only change the connecting operator for the smallest group to which a condition belongs.
    Tip: The custom filter statement is shown below the conditions grid and is updated as you make changes to the filter. Review this statement to ensure you have set up the filter as you intended.
    • To remove a condition from a group, click in the left-most column to select the condition and click Ungroup.
    • To remove a condition, click in the left-most column to select the condition and click Remove Condition(s).
  7. When the custom filter is complete, click OK.
