The Section Tab in the Earthwork module allows you to view a representation of the existing, proposed, and substrata layers of a job site in cross sections and profiles.
The top half of the tab displays the takeoff for the selected layer. The lower half of the tab represents the cross section or profile you selected in the upper half of the tab.
Tips for Using the Section Tab
Depending on your current view on the Section Tab, certain keyboard shortcuts may not be available. For example, pressing [F] to finish selecting the profile only works when you have already clicked Profile.
If your mouse has a scroll wheel, you can magnify any region on the Section Tab by moving your cursor over the region you want to magnify and scrolling up with the scroll wheel. Scrolling down reduces the magnification level.
You can increase the size of either the upper or lower half of the tab to view that portion of the tab in greater detail by selecting the divider between the two halves and dragging the divider up or down.
When you have magnified the tab, you can move the sheet by pressing and holding Ctrl and moving the mouse toward the area of the sheet you want to view. Release Ctrl to continue working as normal.
