Screens in Estimating and Earthwork

Some screens in the Estimating and Earthwork modules have a few different features than other screens in the application.

  • Many commands in the Estimating module and the Earthwork module are unavailable until you open a job.
  • The speedbar in the Estimating module and the Earthwork module refers to the command icons at the top of the screen. Speedbar commands are specific to the currently displayed tab.
  • The toolbar in the Estimating module and the Earthwork module refers to the fields and buttons at the bottom of the screen. Use the toolbar to perform some of the more common tasks in the Estimating module and the Earthwork module.
  • Mouse over the All Tasks icon on the left side of the screen to display the All Tasks pane.
  • Mouse over the Messages icon on the left side of the screen to display the Messages pane. The Message pane displays and "pins" when Viewpoint Estimating generates a message. Certain informational messages will display briefly instead of pinning.
  • On the right side of the quick link bar, the application displays commands related to the current screen. These commands often display screens that are the next step in a process.
  • Press Tab or Enter to move through the fields on the screen.
  • In the Estimating module, you can add a new sheet to a job by dragging and dropping it into the main window of Add, Remove, and Rename Sheets (where you digitize plans). If you have Advanced Image Manager installed and you add a PDF file with multiple layers or pages, Advanced Image Manager opens automatically allowing you to select the layers or pages to add to the job.
  • In the Earthwork module, you can open a job file (TOP file) by dragging and dropping it into the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen.
