Create User-Defined Validation Code Fields

Create customized validation code fields for use across Field Time applications. A Viewpoint Professional Services consultant typically assists in setting up these customizations.

The system provides five modules (Validation Codes 1-5) that you can use to create customized drop-down fields in time entry grids.
  1. Click the Administration tab.
  2. Select System Management in the left pane.
    1. Choose System Modules.
    2. In the System Modules grid, scroll to and select a Validation Code module.
    3. To customize the module name, enter the new name in the Label and Plural Label fields.
    4. Select the Active box for the custom module.
    5. In the System Modules grid, select Distribution Detail.
    6. In the System Fields grid, select Show in UI for the validation code you just activated.
      To give this code a new name, enter that name in the Label column.
    7. Click Save .
  3. Select Data Management in the left pane.
    1. In the list of Data Management options, scroll to and select Distribution Validation Codes Setup.
    2. From the drop-down field at the top of the screen, choose the Validation Code that you are setting up.
    3. Click Add to add an entry code and description.
      Repeat this step as needed.
    4. Select the Active box for all entry codes to make available to users.
    5. Click Save .
  4. Click the Manage Resources or Personal Entry tab, and verify that the new validation code displays in the time entry grid.
    If the new code does not display, verify that you have selected the Show in UI box for the new code (see step 2f).
