Add SQL Permissions to the Install Folder

SQL needs to access your Field Time database install folder in order to perform its normal functions. Part of the Field Time server installation and upgrade process requires that you select a database destination folder that SQL can access.

Identify the system user account that is set up to run the SQL server. Then allow SQL access to your database destination folder.
  1. Go to Start > Services.
  2. Locate the SQL Server instance for Field Time. For example, if the name of the instance is MFM or Field Time, the SQL Server instance name will be formatted as SQL Server (MFM) or SQL Server (Field Time).
  3. Note the Log On As username. In most cases, it will be NT Service\MSSQL$MFM. the Log On As username is the system user account.
  4. Locate the folder where you want to set up the Field Time database.
  5. Right-click the folder's name, and select Properties.
  6. Click the Security tab.
  7. Click Edit to open permissions for your chosen folder.
  8. Click Add to open the user search popup.
  9. Click the Locations button and select the system name.
  10. Click OK.
  11. In the Select Users or Groups screen, type the Log On As system user account that you noted from Services. Click the Check Names button to validate your entry.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Select the Full Control check box under Allow.
  14. Click OK.
