Use View and Markup

You can use the View and Markup tool to add annotations to a document without altering the document itself. All markups are saved in a markup file, which is associated to and overlaid on the document.

There can be more than one author per markup file. Projects creates a new layer automatically for each new markup file author, based on the author's login user name. This allows the author to see other authors' markups.

The View and Markup tool uses an integrated Brava Viewer. There are two versions of the Brava Viewer: HTML5 and ActiveX. You can choose which version you would like to use by going to Personal Settings > User Settings > BRAVA_DEFAULT > Configure.

Tip: The default option is Detect, which automatically triggers the most appropriate version based on your browser. If you have Internet Explorer 11, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge, Viewpoint For Projects™ triggers the HTML5 version. If you have Internet Explorer 7 -10, Projects triggers the ActiveX version.

Please note that all documents, drawings, and new markups are compatible in all versions of the Brava viewer. This ensures that any user can view and mark up items, regardless of the browser they are running. For example, you can view a markup that was created using the Flash version of the View and Markup tool (which was discontinued in the 2017-2 release of Viewpoint For Projects™) in the HTML version as well.

Important: Any markups created before October 10, 2015 are compatible only with the ActiveX Viewer.

If you'd rather use your preferred editing program on your computer to mark up items in document containers, you can use the Desktop App to make items available offline.
