What's New in 2024 R2

What's New lists the enhancements and changes made in the 24.2 release. The web release is available as of 2/12/2024. The Field Management Mobile release is available as of 2/14/24. The mobile application is available to download 24 to 48 hours following the release date.

Customers hosted in a Viewpoint for Cloud solution receive the latest update automatically. For customers who update modules manually, see Update the Portal for help.

Compatibility With Vista

The 24.2 version of the web portal is compatible with the following versions of Vista:
  • Vista 2023 R2
  • Vista 2023 R1

Release Highlights

This release includes the following new enhancements. For more details, see the individual release highlights sections that follow.

  • New! Fillable PDF form enhancements:

    • Required fields are now enforced in fillable PDF forms. Users won't be able to submit the form until all required fields have a value. See the HR Management Highlights section for details.

    • Fillable PDF form fields now automatically populate with the personal information that a user enters during the onboarding process. See the HR Management Highlights section for details.

  • New! View a Pending PO during the approval process: In the Pending PO / Subcontract Review page, you can now download a PDF or DOC file for a Pending PO. See the Field Management Highlights section for details.

HR Management Highlights

The following enhancements and customer suggestions were added in this release.

  • Expenses

    • Expense header information auto fills the first line item: On the Edit Expense Receipt page, when you fill out the header fields and save, the first line item now automatically fills with the header information. Select the Edit button to make further changes to the line item.
      Note: This feature was added in an update after release 24.2+.
    • Drag and drop attachments to expense receipts: When creating or editing an expense receipt, you can add attachments by dragging and dropping them into either the header or an individual line item. You can also drag and drop attachments to a pending receipt on the Receipts Pending Submission page.

      Note: This feature was added in an update after release 24.2+.
  • Onboarding

    • Required fields are now enforced in fillable PDFs: If you leave a required field blank, you cannot submit the PDF. The field turns red and an error message lists the field(s) needing values.

    • Fillable PDF form fields auto-populate with personal information: When users enter their personal information during the onboarding process, this information now populates the corresponding form fields in fillable PDFs.

      These personal information fields include: First Name, Last Name, Middle Name, Email, Phone, Address, City, State, Country, Zip, Cell, Suffix, Birthday, and SSN.

  • Timecards

    • Timecard Safety Net: Improved workflow for restoring large batches of records: When restoring a large batch of records, the safety net now completes processing for all items and indicates which ones failed. To figure out why a record couldn't be restored, see the error message in the new column called Last Restore Attempt Message.

Field Management Highlights

The following enhancements and customer suggestions were added in this release.

  • Field Management Mobile
    • New! Change the date on mobile timecards: Users can now select different dates in a pay period for their time entries. This enhancement applies to all timecard types. At the top of a mobile timecard (in either mobile or grid view), select the date. This opens a new Timecard date change page where you can choose the applicable date for your entries. Users can change the date as long as the timecard has not yet been submitted.

    • When submitting mobile timecards, hours entries that fall outside of the pay period being submitted no longer show on time and productivity reports.
    • Previously, if a user changed a pay period start date in Vista and then ran Sync Pay Periods on the mobile app, the start date for that pay period remained unchanged on the mobile app. This has been resolved. In addition, users will now see an error message when they attempt to submit mobile time entries that fall outside of a selected pay period.
  • Field Tickets

    • New! Employee dropdown menu for the Accident tab in Daily Reports: In the Accidents tab, after you select a Firm Number, you can now select a firm contact from the Employee dropdown menu.

  • Purchase Orders

    • New! View a Pending PO during the approval process: In the Pending PO / Subcontract Review page, you can now download a PDF or DOC file for a Pending PO by selecting the dropdown arrow to the far right and choosing Print (PDF) or Print (DOC). For more details, see Pending PO / Subcontract Review.

Financial Controls Highlights

The following enhancements and customer suggestions were added in this release.

  • Purchase Orders

    • New! View a Pending PO during the approval process: In the Pending PO / Subcontract Review page, you can now download a PDF or DOC file for a Pending PO by selecting the dropdown arrow to the far right and choosing Print (PDF) or Print (DOC). For more details, see Pending PO / Subcontract Review.

General Changes

General changes affect portal administration or multiple modules in the web portal.

  • Export Error Log messages: From the Error Log, you can now select Export to download an Excel file with the last 100 error messages recorded in the log.

  • Updates to rich text portal settings: Entries and attachments added to rich text portal settings are now limited to 150 KB of data. If you add images or files that exceed this limit, you won't be able to save the setting.
