Move Documents and Folders

You can move documents and folders to a new folder in the project to reorganize information by going to Projects > Documents > Actions > Move.

You can move multiple documents and folders at one time, if they are in the same folder and you want to move them to the same destination. When you move a document or folder, the history for the item shows the location change.

If a document or folder with the same name already exists in the destination folder, the moved item is renamed. For example, if you move a file named file.doc to a folder where a file with the same name exists, the moved file is renamed file (2).doc.

You can also move a single folder using drag and drop in the tree view. See Move a Folder.

  1. From the home page, under Projects, select the name of the project you want to open.
Alternatively, go to the main menu in the upper left-hand corner, select Projects, and then select the name of the project you want to open.
The Dashboard for the project appears.
  2. Select the Documents tab.
  3. Navigate to and select the check box for each document and folder you want to move.
  4. Click the Actions button and select Move.
    The Move Item window appears.
  5. Click on the folder where you want to move the selected documents.
Click on the arrow to the left of a folder name to see its sub folders.
  6. Click the Move button.
The Move Item window shows any files that were renamed during the move.
The selected items are now located in the destination folder.
