Add a New Folder

You can add folders to other folders as needed to organize your documents in a way that makes sense to you by going to Projects > Documents > Add Folder. There is one default folder for each project and all added folders are contained within that folder.

You can set folder security when you create a new folder. See Folder Access and Security for details.

Instead of creating each folder on the project, you could import the folder structure from another project. See Copy the Document Folder Structure from Another Project.

  1. From the home page, under Projects, select the name of the project you want to open.
Alternatively, go to the main menu in the upper left-hand corner, select Projects, and then select the name of the project you want to open.
The Dashboard for the project appears.
  2. Select the Documents tab.
  3. Navigate to and click on the folder to which you want to add a sub folder.
  4. Click the Add Folder button in the upper right corner.
The Create a New Folder window appears.
  5. (Required) In the Folder Name field, enter a name for the folder.
  6. By default, visibility is set to private for top level folders. If you are adding a top level folder, click the Visibility button to make the folder public to all contacts on the project.
For sub-folders, the visibility is automatically set to match the parent folder.
The selected option is highlighted and appears bold.
  7. If the visibility is set to Private, in the Collaboration field, enter a contact's name or email address to find the contact and then click on the contact to give them access to the folder. If needed, you can add new contacts. See Add a New Contact on the Fly in a Folder.
You can give access to as many project contacts as needed. Each contact with access is listed below the Collaboration field. Click Remove next to a contact's name to remove their access to the folder.
Note: If a contact has access to the folder because they have access to a parent folder, Inherited appears to the right of the contact. You cannot remove their access to the folder from this window. You can only remove the contact's access to the parent folder where they were given access.
  8. Click Create Folder.
The new folder is added to the project where you selected to add it in the folder structure.
