About Worker's Compensation Liability Tracking: Canada
You can track subcontractors that do not have worker's compensation clearance certificates so that you can identify those for whom you need to pay worker's compensation liabilities.
When you hire subcontractors without a valid worker's compensation clearance certificate, you are held responsible for their worker's compensation payments. You can track whether a subcontractor has a valid clearance certificate in the AP Vendors form, and run the AP Worker Comp Liabilities for Subcontractors report to help you identify the dollars paid to the subcontractor. You can then calculate and pay the worker's compensation liability.
To identify subcontractors as having valid clearance certificates, select the Valid Clearance Certificate check box in the AP Vendors form (Add'l Info tab). You can then enter the certificate number in the Clearance Cert # field and the certificate's effective date in the Effective Date field. Once you have selected the Valid Clearance Certificate check box, the subcontractor will not display on the AP Worker Comp Liabilities for Subcontractors report.
