About the PM Cost Projections Form
Use this form to enter cost projections.
You can have the program calculate projections for you, enter your own projections, or use a combination of both methods.
Cost projections is a batch process. You create a new batch each time you enter a projection date and job at the top of the form. You can have multiple projection batches open at one time, so if you want to see a list of existing batches, press F4 in the Projection Date field. You can clear the current projection by selecting in the form toolbar. This will clear all of the entries for the selected projection date and job, and delete the batch.
Once you create a projection batch, you can update the cost data by refreshing the data (
). All costs posted to the current batch month (based on the Projection Date) or prior months will populate in the form. However, the Refresh Data option will not update the Project Cost column, add new projection codes (created for a job) to existing projections, or add new phases/cost types (for a projection code) to existing projections.Records that contain a plugged value on the Phase/Cost Type tab are highlighted in yellow. For example if you entered a plugged value on a projection code, that projection code will be in yellow on the Grid tab of the PM Cost Projections form.
-
Add/Assign a Projection Code, Phase, or Cost Type to a Projection - You can add or assign a projection code and/or phase/cost type to the projections in the following ways:
-
Create a new cost projection. This will bring in any new projection codes and/or any phase/cost types that have been assigned since the last projection.
-
Click the Update Projections button. This will bring in new projection codes and/or any phase/cost types that have been assigned since the last projection or update.
If you have unassigned PM phase/cost types, the system will display a 'Project has unassigned Phase/Cost Type records' label on the main Cost Projections form. Unassigned phase/cost types can be assigned from the Projection Code Assign form by selecting
. -
- Entering projections - Projection code vs. Phase/Cost type - You can enter projections in one of two ways:
-
Projection Code - Enter a projection on a projection code (PM Cost Projections, Grid tab). For example you can enter a plugged value on a projection code that represents all of the labor on a project. The plugged value is then distributed to the phases/cost types associated with projection code based on how you have configured the PM Cost Projections process. For more information, see .
-
Phase/Cost Type - Enter projections on the phases/cost types associated with a projection code (PM Cost Projections, Phase/Cost Type tab or PM Cost Projection Editor). For example you can enter a plugged value on a specific phase/cost type that has been grouped into a projection code.
-
-
Using the Cost Projection Editor - You can use the PM Cost Projection Editor form to quickly enter plugged values. You can use this form to enter plugged values on projection codes, or the phases/cost types associated with a projection code.
-
Projection Code - Double click on a projection code on the Grid tab (PM Cost Projections), or select a record and then click the Detail Window button.
-
Phase/Cost Type - Double click on a phase/cost type on the Phase Cost Type tab (PM Cost Projections), or select a phase/cost type and then click the Detail Window button.Note: When you make a change in either the PM Cost Projection Editor or PM Cost Projections form, the system automatically updates the other form. This means that you can have both forms open at the same time. For example if you make a change to the hours remaining on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, the PM Cost Projections form is also updated.
