About Allow Timecards Without a Phase

This option allows entry of timecards where a Job is specified, but no phase code is entered.

In this case, Job Cost will not be updated, since a job must have a phase and a cost type for each record. This option allows a job to be referenced only for the purpose of providing a certified payroll transcript on the timecard (or possibly some other reporting requirement), while not actually charging the person to the job. The General Ledger interface will be based on the person’s Payroll department and not on the Job Cost department, since the cost was not posted to Job Cost. If this option is not needed, it is recommended that you do not check the box. This will keep the phase from being unintentionally omitted from the timecard entry.
