Field Definitions: PM Cost Projections Editor Form
The following is a list of field descriptions for the PM Cost Projections Editor form. Many of the descriptions include links to other topics that provide additional information about or related to the topic.
Buyout
The Buyout check box on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Info tab.
Select this check box if the buy out is complete on a projection code or phase/cost type. This means the total commitments have been made through subcontracts, purchase orders, and/or material orders. The system automatically calculates the final values based on your projection method (> Actual Cost or Actual + Committed Cost fields).
If you select this check box on a projection code, the system automatically selects the Buyout check box on all of the phases/cost types associated with the projection code.
The selection in this field also applies to any linked cost types. Click here for information about linked cost types.
% Complete - Units
The % Complete - Units field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Info tab.
This field is disabled if the Percent Complete check box is not selected on the PM Company Parameters (Projections tab, Columns For Entry section).
Use this field to override (plug) the percent complete for units. This is the actual units incurred divided by the projected final units.
When this field displays on the Grid tab of the PM Cost Projections form, the calculation includes all of the phase/cost types associated with the projection code. You can see these phases and cost types using the Phase/Cost Types tab.

% Complete - Hours
The % Complete - Hours field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Info tab.
This field is disabled if the Percent Complete check box is not selected on the PM Company Parameters (Projections tab, Columns For Entry section), and if the Track Hours check box is not selected for the specified cost type (in JC Cost Types, Info tab).
Use this field to override (plug) the percent complete for hours. This is the actual hours divided by the projected final hours.

This is the actual cost divided by the projected final cost.

Over / Under - Units
The Over/Under - Units field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Info tab.
This field is disabled when the Over/Under check box is not selected on the PM Company Parameters (Projections tab, Columns For Entry section).
Use this column to override (plug) the amount your project will be over or under the current estimate amount. This is the projected final units - (current estimate + included units).
When this field displays on the Grid tab of the PM Cost Projections form, the calculation includes all of the phase/cost types associated with the projection code. You can see these phases and cost types using the Phase/Cost Types tab.

Over / Under - Hours
The Over/Under - Hours field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Info tab.
This field is disabled when the Over/Under check box is not selected on the PM Company Parameters (Projections tab, Columns For Entry section), and if the Track Hours check box is not selected for the specified cost type (in JC Cost Types, Info tab).
Use this column to override (plug) the amount your project will be over or under the current estimate amount. Enter a negative value if the amount is under the current estimate, for example -2,500.00.
This is the projected final hours - (current estimate + included costs).

Over / Under - Costs
The Over/Under - Costs field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Info tab.
This field is disabled when the Over/Under check box is not selected on the PM Company Parameters (Projections tab, Columns For Entry section).
Use this column to override (plug) the amount your project will be over or under the current estimate amount. Enter a negative value if the amount is under the current estimate, for example -2,500.00.

This field is disabled when the Remaining check box is not selected on the PM Company Parameters (Projections tab, Columns For Entry section).
Use this field to override (plug) the remaining units.
Plugged values are distributed based on the Spread Option defined in PM Company Parameters. For more information, see the Spread Option F1 help.
Remaining - Hours
The Remaining - Hours field on the PM Cost Projections Editor form, Info tab.
This field is disabled if the Remaining check box is not selected on the PM Company Parameters (Projections tab, Columns For Entry section). It will also be disabled if Track Hours check box is not selected for the specified cost type (in JC Cost Types).
Use this field to override (plug) projected remaining hours. This field is the difference between the projected final hours and the actual hours (invoiced in the AP module).
When this field displays on the Grid tab of the PM Cost Projections form, the calculation includes all of the phase/cost types associated with the projection code. You can see these phases and cost types using the Phase/Cost Types tab.

Remaining - Costs
The Remaining - Costs field on the PM Cost Projections Editor form, Info tab.
This field is disabled if the Remaining check box is not selected on the PM Company Parameters (Projections tab, Columns For Entry section).
Use this field to override (plug) projected remaining costs. This is the difference between the projected final costs and actual costs (invoiced in the AP module).
When this field displays on the Grid tab of the PM Cost Projections form, the calculation includes all of the phase/cost types associated with the projection code. You can see these phases and cost types using the Phase/Cost Types tab.

Remaining - Unit Cost
The Remaining - Unit Cost field on the PM Cost Projections Editor form, Info tab.
This field is disabled if the Remaining check box is not selected on the PM Company Parameters (Projections tab, Columns For Entry section).
Use this field to override (plug) projected remaining amounts. If using the ManDays option (last line), the value entered here will be multiplied by the Hrs/ManDay (shown above the entry grid) to determine the remaining hours. For example, if Hrs/ManDay is set to ‘8’, and you change the remaining man-days from ‘10’ to ‘15’, the remaining hours will be increased to 120 (15 x 8). All other man-day and hours values (i.e. over/under and final) are recalculated accordingly.

Final - Units
The Final - Units field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Info tab.
Use this field to override (plug) projected final units. This is the projected units to completion, and it is the difference between the projected units at completion and the previously projected units at completion.
When this field displays on the Grid tab of the PM Cost Projections form, the calculation includes all of the phase/cost types associated with the projection code. You can see these phases and cost types using the Phase/Cost Types tab.
Final - Hours
The Final - Hours field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Info tab.
This field is disabled if the Track Hours check box is not selected for the specified cost type (in JC Cost Types).
Use this field to override (plug) projected final hours. This field is the difference between the projected hours at completion and the previously projected hours at completion

Final - Costs
The Final - Costs field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Info tab.
Use this field to override (plug) projected cost to completion. This field is the difference between the projected cost at completion and the previously projected cost at completion.
When this field displays on the Grid tab of the PM Cost Projections form, the calculation includes all of the phase/cost types associated with the projection code. You can see these phases and cost types using the Phase/Cost Types tab..
Final - Unit Cost
The Final - Unit Cost field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Info tab.
Use this field to override (plug) projected final unit cost. This is the projected final cost divided by the number of projected final units.
When this field displays on the Grid tab of the PM Cost Projections form, the calculation includes all of the phase/cost types associated with the projection code. You can see these phases and cost types using the Phase/Cost Types tab.
Final - Production
The Final - Production field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Info tab.
This field is calculated based on the selected production type ().
Notes
Notes tab on the PM Cost Projection Editor form.
Use this field to enter notes on the projection. You can also enter notes at the projection code level using the Notes tab on the PM Cost Projections form.
Spelling Check / Standard Notes
To spell check the text in this field, click the Spelling icon on the toolbar or select
.To add a Standard Note, right click the mouse while focus is in the field and select Standard Notes from the shortcut menu, which opens the Standard Note Copy window. Then enter the standard note to copy (or select from F4 lookup) and click OK. The system inserts the selected note into the field.
Seq
The Seq field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projection Detail tab.
The sequence is a unique number that identifies each projection detail record.
To create a new projection detail record, enter N or +.
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
Action
The Action drop-down on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projection Detail tab.
Use this field to select the action that you would like to perform.
- Add - This option is automatically selected when creating new items and it cannot be changed.
Change - Select this option to make a change to detail lines that have already been processed.
Delete - Use this action to delete the detail item. This will eliminate the record from all future projection batches. Using the Delete () icon in the toolbar and Records menu will only delete the entry from the batch.

Budget Code
The Budget Code field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projection Detail tab.
Enter a budget code or press F4 to select one from a list. The default information entered on the budget code will populate on the projection detail record.
Budget codes are created and maintained using the JC Budget Codes form.
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
Description
The Description field on the PM Cost Projection Editor field, Projection Detail form.
Enter a description of the projection detail record, up to 60 characters.
If a Budget Code was selected, this field defaults with the description of the budget code.
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
Number Of
The Number Of field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projection Detail tab.
This field is enabled only for Labor, Equipment, and Burden cost types (i.e. the JB Cost Type Category is ‘Labor’, ‘Equipment’, or ‘Burden’ in JC Cost Types).
If the line’s cost type is Labor and you specified a craft or craft/class, enter the number of employees of the specified craft or craft/class to which this projection detail line applies. If you specified an employee, you should not need to enter a value here; leave the default of 0.00.
If the line’s cost type is Equipment and you specified an equipment code, enter the number of the specified equipment to which this projection detail line applies.
If the line’s cost type is Burden, you should not need to enter a value here; leave the default of 0.00.
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
UM
The UM field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projection Detail tab.
If you specified a budget code with a Costing Level of ‘Detail’ and a basis of ‘Hour’, defaults the Time UM specified for the budget code in JC Budget Codes.
If you specified a budget code with a Costing Level of ‘Detail’ and a basis of ‘Unit’, defaults cost type’s assigned unit of measure.
If you specified a budget code with a Costing Level of ‘Subtotal’ or ‘Total’, defaults as null. If you did not specify a budget code, defaults the cost type’s assigned unit of measure
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
Units
The Units field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projection Detail tab.
Enter the number of units that apply to this projection detail line.
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
Hrs/Unit
The Hrs/Unit field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projection Detail tab.
This field is enabled only for Labor, Equipment, and Burden cost types (i.e. the JB Cost Type Category is ‘Labor’, ‘Equipment’, or ‘Burden’ in JC Cost Types).
Enter the number of hours that makes up one unit of the specified UM (e.g. if UM is ‘DAY’, enter 8.00).
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
Hours
The Hours field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projection Detail tab.
This field is enabled only for Labor, Equipment, and Burden cost types (i.e. the JB Cost Type Category is ‘Labor’, ‘Equipment’, or ‘Burden’ in JC Cost Types).
Enter the number of hours for this projection detail line. Initially defaults a value based on units x hrs/unit x number of the craft, craft/class, or equipment specified in the Number Of field to determine the total hours for the detail line.
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
Detail Month
The Detail Month field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projection Detail tab.
Enter the month that applies to this projection detail line.
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
From Date
The From Date field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projected Detail tab.
Enter the beginning date in a range of dates to which this projection detail line applies.
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
To Date
The From Date field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projected Detail tab.
Enter the ending date in a range of dates to which this projection detail applies.
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
Cost/Hour
The Cost/Hour field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projected Detail tab.
Enter the cost per hour for this projection detail line.
If you selected an hour-based budget code, this field defaults the rate defined for the budget code (in JC Budget Codes).
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
Unit Cost
The Unit Cost field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projected Detail tab.
Enter the unit cost for this projection detail line.
Labor or Equipment cost type - Defaults based on cost/hour x Number Of field
Burden cost type - Defaults from the cost/hour
Material, Subcontract, or Other cost type - Defaults as null.
If you selected a labor or equipment cost type (Cost Type field at the top of the form) and a Cost/Hour, this field defaults the Cost/Hour multiplied by the Number Of field.
If you selected a burden cost type, this field defaults the value entered in the Cost/Hour field.
If you selected a material, subcontract, or other cost type, and the Budget UM equals the cost type UM, this field defaults the unit cost set up on the budget code.
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
Amount
The Amount field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projected Detail tab.
Enter the amount for this projection detail line. This field defaults a value based on Units x Unit Cost.
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
Notes
The Notes field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Projected Detail tab.
Use this field to enter a note on a projection detail record.
The fields on the Projection Detail tab are enabled based on the JB cost type category associated with the selected cost type in (JC Cost Types, JC Cost Type Category field).
Begin Month
The Begin Month field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Costs tab.
Enter the month by which to begin filtering the cost detail displayed in the grid in the lower section of the form. Leave blank to include all months.
End Month
The End Month field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Costs tab.
Enter the month by which to end filtering the cost detail displayed in the grid in the lower section of the form.
Leave blank to include all months.
Show Actual Units Only
The Show Actual Units Only check box on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Costs tab.
Select this check box to display only those detail records with Actual Units greater than 0.00 in the grid below.
Clear this check box to display all detail records in the grid below, regardless of the Actual Units value.
Costs
The Cost field on the PM Cost Projection Editor form, Costs tab.
Actual – Show all actual costs for the selected job/phase/cost type.
Committed – Show all committed costs for the selected job/phase/cost type.
Estimate – Show all estimated costs for the selected job/phase/cost type.
Projected – Show all projected costs for the selected job/phase/cost type.
