Field Definitions: SM Technician Preferences Form

The following is a list of field descriptions for the SM Technician Preferences form. Many of the descriptions include links to other topics that provide additional information about or related to the topic.

Technician

Enter the technician for which to assign a preference status.

Note: Technician must be flagged as "Active" in PR Employees. If you enter a technician that is flagged as "inactive" in PR Employees, a warning displays and you will be unable to save the record.

Status

Specify the preference status for the technician.

  • A-Alternate — Select this status if the technician is authorized to perform service work for the service site or customer. Technicians with this status will generally be used when the primary technician assigned to the service site or customer is not available.

  • D-Do Not Use — Select this status if the technician is not authorized to perform service work for the service site or customer. You might generally use this status for technicians that the service site and/or customer has complained about, or for technicians that do not have the skills to perform the type of service work requested by the service site/customer.

Note: Technician preferences defined for a service site will override those defined for a customer.
