Link Reports

Use the following procedure to link reports.

Presenting too much information in one report can overwhelm the user, causing them to miss information that is important to them. You can manage the amount of information displayed in a report by hyperlinking from one report to other related reports, charts, dashboards, and URLs. For example, you can present basic information in an easy-to-comprehend report with hyperlinks to reports that contain details.

When defining hyperlinks to a destination report that has parameters, you can map rows and columns in the source report to parameters in the destination report. This enables you to constrain the hyperlink result to display only data for the mapped parameters.

  1. Create Source Report
  2. Create Destination Report
  3. Add Parameters on Destination Report
  4. Add Hyperlinks to Source Report

The following example explains how to link two Analysis reports together. The same process is used to link an Interactive report to an Analysis one.

Example:

Create a report that displays one line per job the job to date costs compared to its projected costs. Provide a variance column that explains the difference between Projected Cost less job to date Costs.

So that the user can get more information about a specific job, create a detailed version of this report that provides this information at the phase level.
