Project Roles

Project Roles reflect the permissions of a user in a project. Each Project Role has specific default permissions for using the different tools in Team. You can assign Project Roles in project contacts settings.

Note: The permissions specified for each role are the default permissions. You can change permissions for some roles by restricting a role based on RFI or Issue type:

Project Manager

Project Managers lead the project effort and have access to all tools and financial widgets. The Project Manager is the only role with access to the Job Cost widgets on the project dashboard. A Project Manager can also invite or assign the Project Manager role to someone else.

Create and edit potential change orders.

Project Engineer

Project Engineers are responsible for answering project-related questions and ensuring that the project runs smoothly. A Project Engineer has access to nearly every tool but cannot delete projects or view financial information.

Project Editor

Project Editors are the internal administrators of the project and have access to nearly every tool in Team. The Project Editor cannot delete projects or view financial information.

Superintendent

Superintendents oversee the building process and all activities on a construction site. A Superintendent can contribute to all issues and—if assigned—submittals, RFIs, daily logs, documents, and forms.

Architect

Architects design and plan the structures and support the building process of a project. An Architect can review and approve submittals, view drawings, and—if assigned—contribute to RFIs, issues, daily logs, documents, and forms.

Collaborator

Collaborators are additional contributors who typically approve specific aspects of a project. A Collaborator can create RFIs and issues and—if assigned—contribute to submittals, issues, documents, and forms.

RFIs

Create RFIs.

If assigned: Respond to RFIs.

Can only send RFIs to Project Editor Roles (Project Manager, Project Editor, Project Engineer).
Note: Collaborators cannot override the default RFI recipient if there is one in use.
Issues

Create issues.

If assigned: Assign and complete (resolve) issues. Create and link items to issues.

Daily LogsIf assigned: Complete and view daily logs.
DocumentsIf assigned: View and upload documents.
DrawingsView drawings.
PhotosIf added as a collaborator to an album: Upload photos.

Subcontractor

Subcontractors provide specialized labor or services to complete a portion of a project. A Subcontractor can submit submittals, create issues, and—if assigned—contribute to RFIs, issues, documents, and forms.

Project Reviewer

Project Reviewers are additional stakeholders who view and evaluate aspects of a project. A Reviewer can view project details and—if assigned—comment on submittals and respond to RFIs. Reviewers cannot edit project information.

Owners are responsible for the successful completion of the project. An Owner can view project details and—if assigned—comment on and approve submittals, add attachments and comments to RFIs, upload and view documents, and create and complete forms. Owners cannot edit project information.
