Create and Upload a Drawing Set

You can create and upload a drawing set (a collection of drawings sheets) so that they are published together, by going to Projects > Drawings > Drawing Sets.

Once you create the drawing set, you can upload individual drawings sheets into it, or you can upload a combined, multi-sheet PDF of drawings, which Viewpoint Team then automatically recognizes the names of, and splits them out to create a drawings log. This saves you time on drawing set preparation with automatic splitting, naming, numbering and sorting of sheets into disciplines—in one easy process.
  1. From the home page, under Projects, select the name of the project you want to open.
Alternatively, go to the main menu in the upper left-hand corner, select Projects, and then select the name of the project you want to open.
The Dashboard for the project appears.
  2. Select the Drawings tab.
  3. Select the button.
The Create New Drawing Set window appears.
  4. Fill in the Set Name and other required fields, and click Save.
The Title Block Processing file-upload window for your drawing set appears.
  5. Drag-and-drop files into your drawing set, or click Upload to upload files from your computer.
Note: If you want to upload individual drawings sheets, click Cancel from the Title Block Processing window, which defaults to the Use File Name option. This results in a drag-and-drop screen for the files of your drawing set, where you must follow the established naming convention for Sheet # and Sheet Name, as specified in Upload a Drawing.
Once you drag-and-drop or upload your file on the Title Block Processing page, the Define Title Location page appears.
  6. On the Define Title Location page, use the highlight region tools to select any areas of the title block which you would like to process as follows:
    • Sheet Number -
    • Sheet Name -
    • Revision Date -
Note: Discipline codes will be auto-parsed from the first letter in the Sheet Number field.
Important: If characters are not recognized when you use any of the highlight region tools, you can do one of the following:
    • Manually correct any incorrect text prior to publishing
    • Request PDFs with searchable text from the originator of your drawings.
  7. Select Process.
You will receive a notification once the set has been split. If you have any errors in processing your drawing set, the system will notify you of errors that you need to address prior to publishing your set (example: "Your Drawing Set has 2 errors. Please fix them before publishing."), you can click Edit next to any sheet with an error symbol in the Status column.
  8. Select Publish & Notify to publish your drawing set.
The Publish Drawings dialog box displays. If you wish to add existing markups to the drawings you are uploading, select the Bring Markups Forward option. Select your distribution group or any of your contacts to notify them of your published drawing set.
  9. Once you are finished, select Publish.
The drawing set is published, and becomes available to other users. Its sheets now appear as the latest revisions on the Current Drawings tab.
