Spectrum Menus Overview

The Spectrum Menu online Help is organized so that it mirrors Spectrum menu options as they appear on the main Site Map screen - beginning with Maintenance and ending with Utilities. Brief menu descriptions are provided here, followed by links to the menu selections.

The Maintenance menu is used during conversion to define the various inventory items, the categories into which those items are divided, and the warehouses in which those items are stored. After initial installation, the options from this menu can be used to update the information as necessary. It is also used to enter, maintain or edit product price and cost information.

The Data Entry menu is used to validate physical inventory quantities. This is typically accomplished by a physical count of items in stock. Selections on this menu can aid in this process. It is also used to enter information about the usage of inventory items, for example, receipt of items which have been ordered, transfer of inventory from one warehouse to another, and requisition of items for a specific job. This menu also offers the ability to take two or more inventory stock items and combine them to create a unique new stock item. "Component" items are assembled to create a "mix" item. The full cost basis of the component item is transferred to the newly mixed assortment item. In addition, during processing, quantities on hand of component items are reduced as quantities on hand of mixed items are increased. No change in total inventory value occurs as a result of mix processing, but following assembly, "cost" is associated with the mix item. This provides a simple method of building "mixes".

The Inquiries menu is used to obtain screen information about Inventory Control categories, costs and prices, and historical information.

The Reports menu is used to print reports concerning Inventory Control pricing, activity, reorder status and other cost information.

The Period End menu is used at the end of a fiscal period (month and year) to update information.

The Utilities menu is used to change item codes, copy mixes, copy master file information across companies, copy items to new warehouse, set up items in new warehouse, clear inventory quantities, perform a quick item delete, perform a quick item category delete, delete items in one warehouse, and average costs for items with negative buckets.
