Power BI Report Examples: Service Revenue
Find examples of common visuals you might use in a Power BI report and how they can be used to show revenue information.

Matrix Visual
You can use a Matrix visual to create a table with expandable rows or columns. The following example shows billed revenue for companies and cost centers after 2015.
- From the Visualizations column, select the
Matrix visual.
- Drag the Company Code and Cost Center fields to the Rows section in the Visualizations column.
- Drag the Year field to the Columns section.
- Drag the Billed Revenue measure to the Values section.
- From the Filters column, in the Year section, use the Advanced
filtering option to display only years after 2015.
Line Chart Visual
You can use a line chart visual to show a trend over time. The following example uses a Line Chart to show billed revenue for the current year.
- From the Visualizations column, select the
Line Chart visual.
- Drag the Year and Month fields to the X-axis section.
- Drag the Billed Revenue measure to the Y-axis section.
- From the Filters column, use the Basic filtering option to display only the current year.
Pie Chart Visual
A Pie Chart visual is useful when comparing a couple categories. The following example shows unbilled revenue by contract type.
- Select the Pie Chart visual.
- Select the Contract Type, and then select the Unbilled Revenue field.
