Bulk Update User Roles

Enterprise Administrators can use the Bulk Update Roles option to modify roles and access to Analytics features for multiple users at once.

You can use Bulk Update Roles to change the following roles and features:
  • Enterprise Role
  • Project Communications Role
  • Analytics Role
  • Analytics Features
  • Accounts Payable Role

When you select Bulk Update Roles, you will be able to download a formatted .csv template (either pre-populated with the settings for all users in your enterprise, or empty) that you can use to make your changes to users's roles and features. Once you have modified the . csv template with your changes, you can then upload it to apply the changes.

  1. If you haven't already, log in to Trimble Construction One.
  2. Select your name in the upper right corner and select Admin Center.
Note: If you don't see Admin Center, you have not been set up as an administrator. Contact your System Administrator for assistance.

If you have more than one enterprise, select it from the Admin Center list.

The selected Enterprise Info tab appears.
  3. Select the User Management tab.
  4. Select Bulk Update Roles.
From the Bulk Update Roles dialog, you can update users' roles by uploading a formatted .csv file, which includes the changes you want to make. To ensure the correct formatting, select one of the links in the dialog to download a .csv template that you can use for your changes.
    • Select Download an empty template to download a blank template.
    • Select download a template with current users populated to download the pre-populated template that you can modify.

  5. Modify the downloaded template to change users' permissions as needed.
    Note the following:
    • The name and email for each user must match what already exists in Trimble Construction One.
    • You can include a subset of users in the .csv file. When you upload the file, Trimble Construction One will update only the users you have modified.
    • For the Analytics Features field in the template, make sure to separate each feature with the pipe character, and no spaces between the features (for example, Team Reporting|Dashboards|Vista Reports). To view more examples of the formatting for that field, download the prepopulated template.

Note that, if Team Reporting is removed for a user, the Data Access setting for that user is also cleared.

    • When you upload your updated .csv file, if a field that specifes a role contains an invalid value, that field will default to None. To view valid options for each role, you can select the Edit option for a user on the User Management page or refer to User Roles and Access Levels.
    • For inactive users, you cannot modify permissions.
  6. When you have finished modifying the template, upload it as a .csv file by either dragging it to the Bulk Update Roles dialog or selecting the browse option and navigating to the file. Then select Import.
A message indicates if the is successful, and displays any errors that were logged during the import.

If the import is not successful, a message indicates that there was an error. In that case, check the formatting of the fields you modified in the .csv file. You can download the prepopulated template for examples of valid entries and expected formatting.

Note: Updating user accounts can take up to a few minutes. Leave the Bulk Update Roles dialog open until the Import Completed message appears. Closing it too early could result in a loss of your changes.
  7. Once you have successfully imported your changes, select Finish.
