Drag-and-Drop in ProContractor Cloud

Drag-and-drop functionality works within the ProContractor Cloud environment, with an understanding of how the process differs from that of an on-premises installation.

Drag-and-Drop works the same way with a cloud deployment of ProContractor, as long the applications and drives all exist in the Cloud environment. Going from a local source to a cloud-based source requires an extra step. For example, to drag-and-drop directly from email to a ProContractor record, you must open Outlook within the ProContractor Cloud environment and drag the email to ProContractor

Drag-and-Drop on Premises

With an on-premises installation of ProContractor, you can drag-and-drop an item by selecting it directly from your desktop or from an email and dragging it to a ProContractor record as an attachment. This works because both the source and ProContractor are installed locally.

Drag-and-Drop from a Cloud-Based Source to Cloud-Hosted ProContractor

Drag-and-drop works the same way with a cloud deployment of ProContractor, as long the applications and drives all exist in the Cloud environment.

Drag-and-Drop from a Local Source to Cloud-Hosted ProContractor

If a drive or application doesn't exist in the Cloud environment, an extra step is required to get a file to cloud-hosted ProContractor.

To take files from your local workstation (not in the cloud) to cloud-hosted ProContractor, you must connect the locally based application or drive with the cloud-hosted application or drive. The H:\ drive that provides with your cloud environment is that bridge and it's used to receive and hold local files. Once a local file exists in the H:\ drive, it's effectively a cloud-based file.

The Files folder comes with your ProContractor NetApp Virtual Desktop Services Cloud environment. The Files folder provides access to the drives on the hosted server as well the drives on your workstation. This means that you have the ability to copy files from your local machine to the H:\ drive then drag-and-drop those files from the H:\ drive to ProContractor in the cloud environment.
