Power BI Report Examples: Service Revenue

Find examples of common visuals you might use in a Power BI report and how they can be used to show revenue information.

Matrix Visual

You can use a Matrix visual to create a table with expandable rows or columns. The following example shows billed revenue for companies and cost centers after 2015.

  1. From the Visualizations column, select the Matrix visual.
  2. Drag the Company Code and Cost Center fields to the Rows section in the Visualizations column.
  3. Drag the Year field to the Columns section.
  4. Drag the Billed Revenue measure to the Values section.
  5. From the Filters column, in the Year section, use the Advanced filtering option to display only years after 2015.

Line Chart Visual

You can use a line chart visual to show a trend over time. The following example uses a Line Chart to show billed revenue for the current year.

  1. From the Visualizations column, select the Line Chart visual.
  2. Drag the Year and Month fields to the X-axis section.
  3. Drag the Billed Revenue measure to the Y-axis section.
  4. From the Filters column, use the Basic filtering option to display only the current year.

Pie Chart Visual

A Pie Chart visual is useful when comparing a couple categories. The following example shows unbilled revenue by contract type.

  1. Select the Pie Chart visual.
  2. Select the Contract Type, and then select the Unbilled Revenue field.
