Barcodes and QR Codes

Barcodes and QR codes are used to identify locations and assets on the job site. You print labels with barcodes and QR codes and affix them to their corresponding locations and assets. Mobile device users scan the labels to quickly access the associated information in Field View.

On the mobile device, tapping the barcode scan button opens the barcode scanner. This enables the device user to scan the printed barcode or QR code that has been placed on a location or asset. This action then displays that location or asset in the Plan View of the Field View device app.

Barcodes are created automatically when locations are added to a project, or you can specify a specific reference code to be used as the barcode when creating a location. Barcode prefixes can also be specified in the web application for use with raising new forms and searching existing forms by use of barcodes.

Form templates can include questions of the barcodes question type. Answering the question requires the device user to scan a QR code on a location or asset. Device users can also scan a barcode or QR code on an asset or location to find a form that contains the scanned QR code as an answer.
