In 2017-3, a new Generate COBie button is displayed on the BIM Home page in the Actions column for model files and Excel files. You can click this button to generate COBie data from the corresponding file.

For model files, the Generate COBie button is now the only way to generate COBie data from an IFC file -- COBie data is no longer automatically generated when you upload a model file. This change provides you with an element of control over COBie generation, as you can now wait until you have the correct information in place before you generate COBie. In the future, Viewpoint plans to provide customization options for generating COBie. For example, you may have the ability in a future version to choose which items to include or exclude from generation.

For Excel files, the Generate COBie button replaces the Convert to COBie button of previous versions.
