What's New in 2022 R7

What's New lists the enhancements and changes made in the 22.7 release. This release is available as of 7/14/2022. Android users can download the Field Management mobile app the same day as its release. For iOS users, the Field Management mobile app can take 24 to 48 hours following the release date to become available in the App Store.

Customers hosted in a Viewpoint cloud solution receive the latest update automatically. For customers who update modules manually, see Update the Portal for help.

Important: Complex passwords now required
  • Complex passwords are now required for all users who log in to the portal with their employee number.
    • A complex password must be at least eight characters long and must contain at least three of the following: lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters (such as #, $, or %).

    • Existing users will not have to update their passwords immediately. Instead, they will be required to enter a complex password the first time they request a password change following the update to version 22.3.

Note: As part of this change, the portal setting Enforce complex password requirement has been removed from Admin > Portal Settings > Security / Login > Log In Page.

General Changes

  • Single Sign-On Update: For hosted customers, the portal setting Enable SSO through TC1 login was previously enabled by default and was required for single sign-on. As of the R7 release, single sign-on logic is enabled by default for hosted customers and cannot be disabled. In addition, the Enable SSO through TC1 setting now controls only whether the Log In With Viewpoint ID button displays on the Login page.

  • Enhanced styling for Web: Styling updates have been made to the Support Requests page to enhance the look and feel of the web portal. These changes have no impact on portal workflows or functionality.

    • Styling updates have been made to the Equipment Dashboard. The Equipment and Job drop-downs now support multi-selection.

  • Improved the mobile view of the web portal to ensure that the navigation menu displays in full on a device.

  • The web portal now includes better handling when an extra trailing forward slash (/) is inadvertently included in a portal setting that requires a URL.

Add scopes or employees to the grid. Then tap grid cells to add time. See Enter Service Time in Tablet View for more details.

In addition, when entering time for SM work orders in either mobile view or tablet grid view, the Employees page now shows only SM technicians.

    • The portal setting Earn Codes to Exclude from Time Worked Subtotal Validation now applies to the Field Management mobile app in addition to timecards. Use this setting to enter the earn codes to ignore during time clock validation (for example, vacation or holiday). Setting location: Admin > Portal Settings > Timecard > Time Clock.

    • The following legal disclaimer has been added to the Offline Kiosk login page when photos are enabled on the Field Management Offline Timeclock Kiosk: Your photograph is required and may be viewed by your employer to manually verify your identity and complete check-in. • Improved error reporting in cases when the mobile app fails to initialize.

  • Job Approval

    • New required parameter for Job Time Approval PDF rdl: As part of a fix for the Job Time Approval Summary PDF (see the Issues Fixed page for details), a new required parameter, PRPCKeyID, was added to the Job Time Approval PDF rdl. • For purchase orders created in Field Service, the Pay Category and Pay Type now prefill the SM Purchase Order Entry Form based on the same logic used in Vista. To take advantage of this feature, be sure that you have enabled the following fields in Vista:

      • Pay Category: This field is enabled in Vista only if you have selected the Using Payable Category check box in AP Company Parameters and the Specify Pay Type during PO Entry check box in PO Company Parameters. For details on how the Pay Category defaults in Vista, see the Pay Category page.

      • Pay Type field: This field is enabled in Vista only if you have selected the Specify Pay Type during PO Entry check box in PO Company Parameters. For details on how the Pay Type defaults in Vista, see the Pay Type page.

Setting location: Admin > Portal Settings > Field Service > Work Complete.

    • New portal setting Save inline timecard start and stop times on Work Completed Labor Lines. When this setting is enabled, employee start and stop times are pushed to the corresponding start/stop times in PR Timecard Entry and PR Employee Daily Time. If this setting is not enabled, clock times are saved to PR Employee Daily Time only. Setting location: Admin > Portal Settings > Field Service > Work Complete.

    • The optional parameters @SMWorkOrderScopeID and/or @SMTripID can be used by the following lookups to further refine lookup results per record: Equipment Lookup Filter, Material Lookup Filter, and Standard Item Lookup Filter.

  • Service Manager Dashboard

    • The Export License Report now includes a Service Manager Dashboard column to indicate which users have been granted a license for the Service Manager Dashboard.

Note: Users who have been assigned access to either the Service Manager Dashboard or Field Service on the User Access page consume a Field Service license. Users who have been assigned access to both the Service Manager Dashboard and Field Service consume only one Field Service license. For more details, see How Active Field Service Users are Counted.
